Canadians have been well served by the strong and collaborative efforts of Prime Ministers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. All Premiers reaffirm their commitment to this approach while continuing to address their shared priority of the well-being and safety of all Canadians. More support for Canadians through the Safe Restart Agreement: The Government of Canada will provide $700 million to support the capacity of health systems to respond to a possible future wave of COVID-19. An additional $500 million will cover immediate needs and gaps in assistance and protection for people facing mental health, drug or homelessness challenges. This investment over the next six to eight months will help preserve the safety and health of Canadians with the health support they need and should be recognized as a first step towards longer-term discussions on health funding. Ontario looks forward to a discussion with you and all other premiers on the adequacy and sustainability of public health funding through the Transfer of Health Canada. As we enter the fall and the world continues to face the effects of COVID-19, the Canadian government continues to focus on keeping Canadians safe and healthy, while continuing to ensure they have the help they need during this global health and health crisis. The federal government has provided more than $7.6 billion for the rapid purchase of more than two billion personal protective equipment. Canada continues to provide aggressive life-saving assistance to keep our nurses, doctors and medical staff on the front line well equipped and to keep all Canadians safe in the months and years ahead. These funds will be in addition to the $3 billion for the acquisition of PSA, which will be made directly available to the provinces and territories as part of the Safe Restart Agreement.

Investment Plan Map for Canada: Canada is also committed to safe municipal construction through our infrastructure plan, which leads to thousands of projects, creates jobs across the country and creates stronger communities. The opioid crisis has claimed far too many lives in Canada. The government has adopted a damage-reducing approach to funding safe consumption centres. The Federal Gas Tax Fund: The Government of Canada is ensuring that Canada has the resources it needs to relaunch the economy safely while protecting the health of Canadians.
